What is a Massage Therapist?

Massage Therapists belong to the growing number of holistic health professionals who believe that good health involves more than just treating symptoms and taking pills; the body must be treated as a whole organism, and each part of the body is affected by the health of the other parts.

Upon successful completion of the Massage Therapy program you will be awarded a Diploma and will be elegible to take the Massage Therapy examination administered by the State Medical Board of Ohio.

Typical Duties of a Massage Therapist:
  • Apply pressure with the hands to clients in order to relax the clients’ muscles, release tension and stress, improve joint mobility, reduce edema, and prevent scars from becoming lumps through scar massage techniques.
  • Provide specific massages geared to aid specific problems; for example, lower back pain and wrenched and pulled shoulder muscles.
  • Combat the negative effects of ageing through increased blood flow.
